Painter, historian and traveler. Born in Rio de Janeiro, 1948.

From a very young age he drew on any surface he could find; by sixteen he was earning money from his art. Graduated in Painting at the National School of Fine Arts and in History, with a doctorate and post-doctorate in Social History, he mastered oil, watercolour and drawing, exhibiting since 1968 in salons and galleries in Brazil and abroad, with works in private Brazilian and foreign collections.

Fascinated by the rugged, sunbaked landscape of Cabo Frio and by the artisanal fishermen of the Araruama Lagoon, he painted the people and scenery of a region on the verge of disappearing. Later phases turned to social themes, depicting urban scenes and rural laborers, to the history of Rio de Janeiro, and to travel sketchbooks made across Portugal, France, the Middle East and Asia.

From 1997 to 1999 he lived in Lisbon, sketching countless corners of Portugal. Fascinated by France, he produced drawings and poems depicting numerous cities, resulting in three major consecutive exhibitions between 2008 and 2010.
